Three-dimensional | Sculpture | Papier-mache
This sculpture marks the first stage in a three‑part series about the emotional process of grief. The figure stands in a moment of raw vulnerability, her wide eyes reflecting the shock and disorientation that accompany the first rupture of loss. Her mouth is tense, as if words fail to express what has broken inside her.
In her hands she holds a single heart, torn into two pieces. It symbolizes an inner world that has split apart, the fragile attempt to hold on to what can no longer remain whole. The red, twisting strands of hair rise like chaotic thoughts, mirroring the confusion and emotional turbulence of this early stage of grief.
The sculpture is made of solid papier‑mâché and paper pulp, painted with acrylics and finished with UV varnish. Its textures and contrasts emphasize the fragility, intensity and honesty of a moment in which everything changes and the heart begins to break open.
