Welcome
My name is Liliane Rempakis, born 1965 in Maria-Hoop, with Greek-Dutch roots.
As a self-taught artist I have found my way to keep creating new paper sculptures.
My larger works have often the focus on being a woman, emotions, faces and hands.
I'm inspired by women of today and throughout the course of the centuries. Mythology, colors and the symbolism of many cultures are also a important aspect in my sculptures. I look, feel and try to understand, then I translate this into my work.
In my works I am always looking for fullness, by this I mean: To feel that it is flowing and flowing, the whole must be 'round' or feel 'full'.
The paper sculptures I make are almost entirely solid papier-mâché and paper pulp. They are built up layer by layer. My works are an ode to being a woman, with joy, love and everything that goes with it.
As every person unique is, is every sculpture and work unique.
As a light counterpart I make the Happy Angels and the Arty Lamps. The Happy Angels are angels made of mixed media, including papier-mâché. They have long arms and legs and some have white or black wings. This without any profound intention.
All Arty lamps are made with CE approved cables and fittings.
